GWS Playground Project

A place for our kids to play

Hello from our Garth Worthington Fundraiser Society!

We are so pleased with all of you in your dedication, hard-earned donations and participation in the last three years. On January 13, 2026, we held an in-person fundraiser meeting, with a few significant attending guests. One of the main concerns over the past few years for us, as a society, is getting a playground started.

Playgrounds are not only fun for the kids, but they also allow our children to have an outlet for specific movement and endurance they deserve at recess. During this meeting, we had a couple of EPSB speakers attend to explain and go over a plan to start our playground journey. We also had city councillor John Morgan attend, as a representative for the city side of the building process. I am pleased to announce that we got a lot accomplished during this meeting and voted on the building of our playground in a phased process. What this means is that we are on the right track for getting a playground built, aiming to start phase 1 by the Summer of 2027. Playground designs and budget details are available to all parents at every monthly meeting.

We are currently sitting at roughly $300,000 for this build and are hoping to reach $450,000 for phase 1 by next spring. This is a huge thank you to all of the volunteering, donations and outreach that have helped us reach this goal so far! We hope that once we start the playground project, there will be more opportunities for fun activities within the school to give back to you and your families.

Our GWFS meetings are held once a month, online. If you wish to attend a meeting, go to our website and follow the link to rsvp. We welcome all and are always looking for ideas, feedback and participation.

Thank you!
